I See Where You Are in Central

back to my artwork

It is a mixed reality game developed with Alan Fong, Justin Wong and Linda Lai. The 2005 Microwave International Media Art Festival includes a version of it. The game play and documentation website is at http://www.iseewhereyouare.com/. It is a mixed reality game where there are two groups of players, one on the street carrying mobile device with global positioning facilities and another one in the exhibition venue playing through an online computer. Hidden treasures are planted in various locations in Central where both the street player and online player need to co-operate to find them out with a time limit. Their only means to communicate is through the location of their movement, as reflected real time on the map shown on screen. For the player on the street, they can see the hidden treasures only on the screen but not in real places. For the online player in the exhibition venue, they can only see their positions on the map within a limited proximity, i.e. they cannot have a whole view of the map but a small portion of it around their own position. Within these restrictions, they have to struggle through the real and virtual space to find their targets.
