I tried and documented the findings of the use of PCCW 3G data service from a Windows Mobile 5 pocket PC together with a bluetooth mobile phone. The settings are:

Dial number: *99#
Baud rate: 115200
AT command: +cgdcont=1,”ip”,”pccw”

This is another version of the mapping experiment. It uses the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Web Map Service (WMS) that integrates satellite imagery of the earth.

Using similar Processing codes for the Centamap experiment, it retrieves a JPEG earth image from the map server and formats it in the Processing canvas.

As I intend to incorporate geographical information into the RFID project, to visually display the geo-data, Centamap in Hong Kong is one of the choices. Using the similar approach in a previous post with Flash ActionScript, I port it to Processing.

Nokia announced a new NFC (Near Field Communication) phone, 6131 NFC which come with a more open SDK for developer. It can sense RFID tags with proper configurations.

The Nokia Forum has a good document with example codes for connecting a J2ME device with a PC, using Bluecove. The document can be downloaded here. It covers the use of serial communication through Bluetooth.
